DETECTIVES are hunting a robber who threatened staff with a screwdriver before grabbing £300 from a till at a North Baddesley convenience store.

The man struck at McColls in Fleming Avenue at about 8.45pm last Sunday.

Police say the offender, who hid his face with a scarf, is described as white, 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build and was wearing a hooded top.

The robber walked into the store and demanded cash and cigarettes but when two female shop assistants refused, he threatened them with a screwdriver.

A struggle followed and one member of staff suffered a minor cut to one of her hands as the man snatched the money and an undisclosed quantity of cigarettes.

Detective Constable Jon Davies, said: "Two members of staff were left in an extremely distressed state after being confronted by a man with a weapon demanding money. We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to assist us with their enquiries to come forward."
