Today I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Winchester born Hampshire cricketer Jimmy Adams.
Off the back of a season which has seen the opening batsman amass an incredible feat of over 2,500 runs in all forms of domestic cricket this summer, it was great to find out a little bit more about a man who very much lets his bat do the talking.
Modest and down to earth; are two superlatives you can attribute to the 29 year-old.
In spite of a season which has bought Adams to the cusp of international recognition for England’s eagerly anticipated tour down-under this winter, the Rose Bowl star; the team player he is played down the form he has shown this campaign which has taken him to the top of the Twenty20 run scoring charts amidst other accolades, focusing on how the season has been a real team effort with individual contributions helping matters along the way.
There’s not too many true gentleman in modern sport these days compared to the golden times of old, but Jimmy Adams is most certainly an exception to the rule.
