EVERYBODY enjoys a taste of luxury every now and then. And for a special treat, the Four Seasons Hotel, at Dogmersfield, wants to spoil you in real style.

Whether you are ladies who lunch, a couple, a family celebrating a special occasion, or friends wanting to catch up, the hotel is an ideal venue for a relaxing lunchtime experience.

Overlooking rolling Hampshire countryside, the contemporary Seasons restaurant allows diners to enjoy their meals in style and comfort.

The hotel offers a delicious Du Jour menu, created by award-winning chef, Jamie Jones, and using the finest local produce available.

Putting the daily fixed menu to the test, my friend, Fiona, and I were spoiled for choice. Her carrot and coriander soup starter was creamy and bursting with flavour, while my orange and crunchy fennel salad was a perfect accompaniment to a generous portion of rich, peat-smoked, salmon gravlax.

Both came with a selection of freshly-baked bread. Our main courses were equally spectacular. Fiona's salmon fillet was perfectly cooked and carried a crust of crushed pepper and lemon. This was served with bok choi and a Riesling cream sauce, with all the flavours beautifully balanced.

My roast lamb with a garlic mash, French beans and a rosemary jus was the stuff of dreams, Jamie's clever use of the classic flavours producing a truly memorable melt-in-the-mouth dish.

We also sampled two of the hotel's signature dishes a starter of baked local goat's cheese, tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette and a main Dogmersfield-raised organic beef and Hog's Back Ale pie hearty and delicious.

Long may they fly the flag for Hampshire! Desserts, like everything else at the Four Seasons, are beautifully presented and luxurious. From the Du Jour menu, Fiona savoured a refreshing raspberry mousse with a berry compote, while I opted for a scrumptious rhubarb crumble with rhubarb ripple ice-cream - comfort food indeed!

To accompany such splendid fare, the hotel has an impressive list of fine wines. We enjoyed glasses of chilled New Zealand Sauvignon and a German Riesling, local Hildon water and aromatic espresso coffee to finish.

The Four Seasons certainly knows how to impress its guests and, as a special summer treat, you can now dine from the Du Jour lunch menu and your guest will eat for free.

The hotel's special offer, £24 for two courses and £28 for three courses, is served weekday (except Monday) lunchtimes and runs until August 31. Telephone 01252 853000 to make a reservation and reference "Summer Special" when booking.

The offer is valid when one person orders from the Du Jour menu and does not include drinks or service charge.
