IT’S an export from America that has taken the UK by storm.
Leaver proms are now as firmly embedded into secondary school life as exams and homework.
But now the phenomenon has even reached youngsters at Winchester’s Henry’s Kindergarten Day Nursery, who dressed up in their best party clothes and enjoyed orange juice in champagne glasses.
They also made corsages and masks, posed for “graduation” pictures and tucked into a lunch of sausage and mash.
“The day went fantastically,” said Stephanie Biggerstaff, co-manager of the nursery. “There were some sad faces from some parents.”
The nursery, which is in the grounds of Henry Beaufort School, held the get-together as a send-off for 21 children leaving to start primary school next term.
