CHRISTMAS cheer was sprinkled over Hampshire’s children’s wards as youngsters facing the festive season in hospital were given gifts inspired by one little girl’s courage.
Hundreds of presents were handed out to honour the wishes of Sophie Barringer, pictured, who set up the Giving Tree appeal six years ago as she battled with Wilm’s disease. Since her death in 2004, the Sophie Barringer Trust has continued the event in her memory.
Pupils from Norwood and the Crescent Schools, Eastleigh, who generously donated the scores of toys and games, held a special assembly to remember Sophie and hand over the gifts.
The presents were delivered to the Piam Brown ward at Southampton General Hospital and Northbrook Ward at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital,Winchester.
