AROUND 25 people took part in a fund-raising event at Winchester last weekend.
They were asked to tackle a 13-mile half-marathon route from the city to Brambridge and back.
The start point was The Queen Inn at Kingsgate Road, and the finish line was The Bell Inn at St Cross Road.
Clive Mansell, who runs both pubs, organised the event along with a barbecue at the finish.
Some volunteers cycled the route, while others jogged and some decided to take a scenic stroll.
The latter was chosen by Sebastian Evelyn, who was the youngest fund-raiser by some margin. The eight-year-old from Oliver’s Battery Road South in Oliver’s Battery completed the walk with his father.
The volunteers have already raised more than £400 after the walk last Saturday (August 8), which will be donated to The Children’s Society.
Further donations can be sent to The Bell Inn, 83 St Cross Road, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 9RE.
