Two Hampshire pubs have been ranked among the best beer gardens in the UK according to a new analysis.

The ranking was created by Crown Pavilions who analysed the 89 finalists supplied in the research dataset for the Great British Pub Awards 2026.

Each pub was assessed against four weighted criteria, producing a total score out of 100.

This was broken down into public reputation (a possible 30 points), garden quality and usability (40 points), independent recognition (20 points) and garden evidence (10 points).

The methodology was designed to balance public reputation with independent recognition and the quality, usability, and available evidence of each pub's outdoor space.

The scores from the four categories were combined to produce a final score out of 100.

The pub with the highest overall score was named the top-ranked pub garden in the analysis.

The Tichborne Arms near Alresford ranked in fifth place, scoring 93.4/100.

Meanwhile, The Mutton at Hazeley Heath came seventh with a score of 89/100.

The Tichborne Arms earned a 4.6/5 on Google Reviews and 4.3/5 on Tripadvisor, along with a public reputation score of 23.4/30.

Alongside that, The Mutton at Hazeley Heath scored 4.7/5 on Google and 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor, with a public reputation rating of 24/30.

Hampshire was one of only two counties with multiple entries in the top 10, along with Cornwall.

Luke Dejahang, co-founder of Crown Pavilions, said: "The best beer gardens are no longer simply somewhere to sit when the tables inside are full.

"They’re designed as destinations. That’s exactly the way we’re seeing homeowners approach their gardens too, creating outdoor spaces with a purpose, rather than simply putting furniture on a patio."
