A key highlight is its springtime transformation when bluebells bloom to create a striking violet carpet beneath the tall, leafy beech canopy.
Sarah Pring, digital PR manager at holidaycottages.co.uk, said: "There is something truly special about stepping into a woodland that feels like it has been lifted straight from the pages of a storybook.
"We wanted to highlight locations that capture that same sense of magic found in the classic tales.
"Importantly, these woodlands offer families a chance to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature, sparking the imagination of children and adults alike, all while creating joyful memories together."
One Instagram user, londonispink, described the experience, saying: "It’s the dreamiest fairytale bluebell walk, so close to London, and the perfect hour loop walk through a peaceful ancient beech woodland."
The list was inspired by the upcoming film adaptation of Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree, which arrives in cinemas this March and has already generated more than five million YouTube trailer views in recent months.
holidaycottages.co.uk has highlighted five of the most magical woodlands across the country, encouraging families to rediscover outdoor exploration and create their own storytelling adventures.
Other forests featured include Ardkinglas Woodland Garden in Scotland, which offers a year-round fairy trail complete with fairy doors, red squirrels and a wishing well.
Also on the list is Puzzlewood in Gloucestershire, known for its moss-covered rocks and winding pathways, described by one TripAdvisor reviewer as "such a magical place to be".
King's Wood in Cornwall was praised by one Google reviewer as "a real gem of a walk that’s great for both people and pups," while Ostlers Plantation in Lincolnshire was described on TikTok by charliewinship as "such a hidden gem".
For families seeking a magical woodland getaway, holidaycottages.co.uk has also compiled a guide to some of the UK’s best forest breaks.
The guide includes cabins, lodges and cottages nestled deep in the woods, offering an ideal opportunity to reconnect with nature and enjoy a peaceful staycation.
