A carol service has raised nearly £5,000 for vital hospice care.

Naomi House and Jacksplace hosted the Christmas event at Winchester College Chapel, with all funds supporting the work of the children’s and young adults’ hospices.

The money raised could help fund more than 170 hours of dedicated nursing care for families from across the south of England.

Reverend Nicky Smallwood, chaplain at Naomi House and Jacksplace, led the service on December 17, which was filled with carols, readings and messages of hope.

Paul Morgan, director of fundraising and communications at Naomi House and Jacksplace, said: "It was truly magical to gather at Winchester College Chapel for our annual Christmas Carol Service.

"The atmosphere was delightful, and seeing the chapel filled to capacity with our incredible supporters was a testament to the compassion and generosity of our community.

"Every reader, every note sung by the choir, and every smile shared reflected the care that makes our work possible.

"Thanks to this generous support, we can continue providing vital hospice care for children and young adults both now and for years to come."

The evening included carols performed by the Naomi House and Jacksplace Chamber Choir and the Voices for Hospices Choir, with Robin Smallwood on the organ.

A young adult supported by Jacksplace, named Jack, delivered a special reading.

Jack said: "It was a magical time with all the families celebrating Christmas. It was amazing to be able to do a reading in front of everyone and representing Jacksplace which means a lot to me."

Naomi House and Jacksplace offer specialist hospice care to life-limited and life-threatened children and young adults, as well as support for their families.

Serving around 550 families from across the central south of England, the hospices provide nursing, medical, and emotional care to help families make the most of their time together.

Naomi House supports children, while Jacksplace is dedicated to young adults and is the only hospice of its kind in the South of England.

Their care teams offer highly specialised support focused on dignity and independence.

This care can span many years and is available not only during times of need but also on "good days, difficult days and last days."

The carol service raised nearly £5,000.

The funds equate to more than 170 hours of nursing care at Naomi House and Jacksplace.
