Naomi House & Jacksplace comedy night raises £6,000

Naomi House & Jacksplace, hospices for children and young adults, hosted their charity comedy night at Theatre Royal Winchester.

The event was hosted by comedian Paul McCaffrey, a Winchester resident and co-host of the podcast What’s Upset You Now?, who was joined by fellow comedians Matt Richardson, Rachel Fairburn, Julian Deane, and the comedy duo Raymond & Mr Timpkins.

Paul said: "It was such an honour to host this event for the third year running and what a night.

"Four fantastic acts who all gave their time for the cause (I’m very lucky to know such kind, talented people), a fantastic crowd and a wonderful venue.

"It really couldn’t have gone any better.

"As a Winchester resident, I’ve been aware of the amazing work that Naomi House & Jacksplace do for a while and I’m so happy to be able to do a little bit to help that continue."

All the comedians volunteered their time for the event.

After fees, the rest of the ticket price supports the vital work of Naomi House & Jacksplace.

The money raised could fund 214 hours of expert nursing care.

During the interval, guests took part in a raffle featuring prizes donated by local businesses, with all proceeds going directly to the charity.

Charlotte Patrick, events team leader at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said: "We were absolutely delighted to welcome Paul back this year with even more acts.

"We’re incredibly grateful to him for taking the time to create such a hilarious evening.

"It was a truly fantastic night of entertainment."
