Loganair has launched a new direct service linking Southampton and Manchester.

The airline began flights on the route on Sunday, October 26 with tickets starting from £72 one-way.

The newly-launched service is part of Loganair’s wider strategy to boost regional connectivity across southern England, ahead of the official opening of its new base in March 2026.

Luke Lovegrove, chief commercial officer at Loganair, said: "This launch is a major step forward for Loganair in the south of England.

"As we grow our presence in Southampton, we look forward to building on this service with additional fast, affordable travel options which will benefit the region and its economy."

Passengers travelling on the new route can expect Loganair’s hallmark customer service, including 15kg of hold luggage and 6kg cabin baggage, family-friendly policies, and the opportunity to collect Avios through the airline’s loyalty programme.

Gavin Williams, managing director at Southampton Airport, hailed the new route as a game-changer for the airport and the wider community.

He said: "The launch of Loganair’s Southampton to Manchester service is a proud moment for our airport and the wider region.

"It marks the beginning of a new chapter in our partnership with Loganair, following their strategic decision to establish a base here.

"The return of the Manchester route, previously used by over 200,000 passengers annually, is a clear response to regional demand and a vital step in strengthening economic ties between two dynamic cities.

"With Loganair’s extensive airline interline agreements, this route also opens up global connectivity for our passengers, making the world more accessible from their local airport.

"As we look ahead to the full base opening in March 2026, we’re excited to support Loganair’s growth and deliver even more opportunities for our community, businesses, and travellers."

Earlier in 2025, Loganair was ranked second in the Which? annual customer survey of short-haul airlines, scoring five stars for customer service.

It was also named the most punctual UK carrier for arrivals and departures by the Civil Aviation Authority, with 86 per cent of flights on time.
