The latest batch of food hygiene ratings for Winchester restaurants, cafes, takeaways and businesses have been revealed.

Environmental health officers from Winchester City Council have been busy this fortnight visiting businesses across the district to see if they are meeting hygiene requirements.

Based on guidelines set by the Food Standards Agency, inspectors look to see how clean the facilities are; what food safety management procedures are in place and how hygienic food handling is.

Ratings are then dished out from five to zero — with the higher score the better the result.

The following premises have been rated five — 'very good':

  • Bishops Waltham Montessori School at Bishops Waltham Montessori Nursery, Coronation Hall, rated 5 on Monday, September 15
  • Curdridge Primary School at Church Lane, Curdridge, rated 5 on Thursday, September 11
  • Edwards & Ward Ltd @ Harestock Primary School at Harestock Primary School, Bramshaw Close, rated 5 on Friday, September 12
  • John Keble Primary School at Keble Memorial Primary School, Hursley Park Road, rated 5 on Thursday, September 11
  • R&K Bakery rated 5 on Thursday, September 11
  • Toast at 6 Jewry Street, Winchester, rated 5 on Friday, September 12
  • Two Buns Bakery rated 5 on Monday, September 15

Businesses may have been reinspected since and this will be reflected in our next round-up.
