The scores are in — the latest batch of food hygiene ratings for Winchester restaurants, cafes, takeaways and businesses have been revealed.
Environmental health officers from Winchester City Council have been busy this fortnight visiting businesses across the district to see if they are meeting hygiene requirements.
Based on guidelines set by the Food Standards Agency, inspectors look to see how clean the facilities are; what food safety management procedures are in place and how hygienic food handling is.
Ratings are then dished out from five to zero — with the higher score the better the result.
The following premises have been rated five — 'very good':
- Brackenlea Care Home, in Pearson Lane, Winchester, rated 5 on Friday, July 18.
- Cafe at Holden Farm, in Holden Lane, Cheriton, rated 5 on Friday, July 18.
- Hummingbirds Nursery, in Church Lane, Bramdean, rated 5 on Thursday, July 17.
- Knowle Cafe at Knowle Village Hall, Knowle Avenue, Knowle, rated 5 on Wednesday, July 23.
- Stem and Green Flower Farm, in Down Farm Lane, Headbourne Worthy, rated 5 on Friday, July 25.
- Winchester Basics Bank at Badger Farm Community Centre, Badger Farm Road, Winchester, rated 5 on Monday, July 21.
Businesses may have been reinspected since and this will be reflected in our next round-up.
