One of the best musicals in the world has finally arrived in Hampahsire, and luckily, we've got until the end of April to see it.

Hamilton debuted in New York ten years ago and took the world by storm thanks to the hip-hop, R&B, pop, and soul tracks.

No musical had ever ventured into what Hamilton achieved; not only did its creator Lin-Manuel Miranda pen tracks that ventured into the unknown, he also prioritised a diverse cast, which has continued with the global productions, including here in the UK.

Depicting the story of Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of America, the musical has made the political storyline exciting, cool and modern.

The soundtrack had global success; people who had no chance of watching the musical on Broadway were soon heralding it as one of the best - myself included.

So, it's safe to say I went into the press night of Hamilton at Mayflower Theatre with high expectations.

And I wasn't the only one; you could feel the anticipation in the crowd, and as soon as the first beat began, we were transported to the 1700s.

The production is choreographed within an inch of its life - and it is excellent. You have to see it to believe it; Hamilton is filled with energy and life. It is phenomenal to watch.

Marley Fenton takes up the titular role, as Alexander Hamilton, in the production he is cool, confident and a little bit arrogant. And if you're aware of the musical, you'll know I mean that as a compliment. He is the perfect Hamilton.

The musical might be named after Hamilton, but the real star of the show is Billy Nevers as Aaron Burr - the 'villain' in our history.

Nevers was made for this role, I'm sure I'm not alone when I say this: I'd pay good money to watch his performance of 'Wait For It' again.

With an incredible capacity for emotion, matched with strong vocals and fantastic narration, Nevers was the talk of the interval as the standout performance. In the second act, he continued to deliver the goods, especially in 'The World Was Wide Enough'

Anger, regret, devastation- every emotion felt genuine and sincere.

Roshani Abbey, Chasity Crisp, and Naomi Katiyo are our Schuyler sisters. Sassy, confident and curious, they lit up the stage from the moment they were introduced.

Crisp delivered an impeccable 'Satisfied', which is often remarked as one of the hardest songs in the musical world, while Abbey's 'Burn' nearly had audience members on their feet. Perfection.

Louis Maskell is fantastic as King George. He is the perfect light relief, especially in Act Two.

With a cast filled to the brim with West End talent, you won't regret making a trip to Southampton this month.

Hamilton is at Mayflower Theatre until April 26. Tickets can be purchased online at www.mayflower.org.uk or by calling 02380 711811.
