It is very good news to hear that from 2025 we will be able to visit the house in College Street (No 8) where Jane Austen died in 1817.
As far as her statue is concerned: rather than putting it in The Cathedral Close, which is large and surrounded by buildings and therefore not so easy to find, a better place could be in the green space opposite No 8 in College Street. Having the statue there would also help to identify the house.
