WEEKE Community Centre has celebrated its 70th anniversary with a special celebration.
The community centre, in Taplings Road, was built in 1954 to serve the new estate of Weeke, and later Harestock.
The celebration was held on Saturday, October 19.
The day started with an afternoon tea for invited guests, catered for by Munch CIC.
Those in attendance, including the Mayor of Winchester Cllr Russell Gordon-Smith, were then treated to performances by the Spitfire Sisters and students from Winchester Theatre Arts.

Celebrations continued into the evening with a member only party for the social club also based at the community centre. The evening saw a casino, a magician, a complimentary buffet, and a disco.
Centre manager Jenni Robertson said: “It has been lovely to celebrate 70 years of the community centre and we are grateful to the local community for continuing to support us.
“The centre has seen many changes during its life, but it still remains very much at the centre of the community. We have two halls available for hire and host many events open to the general public including our weekly bingo on a Tuesday evening and our upcoming comedy night on Friday, November 15”.
