I AM sure most thinking people see the need to reduce fossil fuels. But surely we need to see the whole picture. As far as I know the infrastructure for petrol and diesel vehicles exists so no new carbon footprint. Yet I read about the huge construction near Winchester for a charging station. And everywhere charging points for EVs. Surely that is not zero carbon.
Isn't the issue that we need to use our vehicles less than we did? That will make a difference. The trouble is that few of us will take such action. For those unconvinced, have not recent weather events the world over shown us all what is happening? Maybe the government does have to take tough decisions and soon, but meanwhile we do need to recognise switching to EVs is not carbon-free.
