The new chancellor has allegedly discovered a billion-pound black hole in the nation's finances. I use the term allegedly as I, like so many others, am sceptical as to what politicians tell us these days, however, it does provide her with a bolt-hole should labour's policies fail.

The alleged existence of such a deficit should however come as no surprise due to the following financial misdemeanours created by the previous government.

The cancellation of the HS2 project after all the money thrown into it; the whole of the Rwanda immigration fiasco; the millions thrown at the French government to stem migration with the police/security just standing by watching the boats being launched as seen on national television; the implementation of smart motorways now under re-assessment due to the reduction of safety for the drivers using them thereof plus from a commercial aspect the 40 mile per hour tailbacks created due to vehicle breakdown on the inside lane that did not exist with the hard shoulders previously.

The chancellor grabbing the bull by the horns in an effort to recoup part of this alleged black hole has withdrawn from a number of pensioners the winter fuel allowance. Another national outgoing she must possibly look at is foreign aid, either by reducing or eliminating completely, irrespective of the rest of the world's perception of ourselves! The reason for such a sweeping statement is that quite bluntly, we, the British people via our government cannot afford this together with keeping the illegal immigrants in this country whether it be in hotels, health care or any of the other benefits they enjoy.

Now before the do-gooders jump on their soap boxes and accuse me of racism or far-right motivations I have used the terminology of British people as this encompasses all races, creeds or religions in our country who all justifiably have a voice in the country's running.

Whilst it seems inappropriate to pen these thoughts at a time when these barbaric, violent and totally out-of-order protests are taking place which are not reminiscent of the vast majority of the British public we must face up to the blunt facts of the situation. Sadly if successive governments had not wasted so much of our monies in the past on foolhardy schemes then this sorry situation might not have materialised.
