WINCHESTER planners are to discuss plans to build a massive extension to a Swanmore property next week.
David Roberts, of Swanmore Road, has applied to add a two-storey extension to the west side of his property, along with a one-storey extension to the rear of the two-storey extension.
The application also covers constructing a replacement garage with a crafts and games space, as well as relocating vehicle access and extending the drop kerb and adding new screen flank walls to open with a sliding gate.
The application will be heard by the Winchester City Council planning committee on Wednesday, August 14.

Six objections have been received by the city council, with no letters of support submitted.
Gregory Smith, of Hampton Farm Lane, wrote that the extension “will transform what is a reasonably sized detached house into an extremely large and especially wide property which will dominate the whole plot, both in height and width.”
He continued: “All neighbouring properties sit within suitably sized plots allowing for space around the house.
“In addition, the proposed electric gates and wall frontage are counter to the village and rural style and more in keeping with a city or urban environment. Almost all properties along this street and in the wider village have open drives or wooden see-through gates.”
Laurence Morgan, also of Hampton Farm Lane, also objected to the application, saying: “Drawing #5 shows windows at the rear of the proposed garage extension entirely proportionate with the additional windows along the rear of the property until The Crest boundary is reached.
“Together with the new bathroom and games room, the plans indicate strongly that this is not a replacement garage at all but, in reality, a new dwelling.”
Swanmore Parish Council has objected over concerns that “The extension and replacement garage would have a negative impact on the amenity of neighbouring properties.”
The parish council’s objection continues: “The proposals would lead to an overdeveloped and overcrowded plot. The property has already been extended twice and the proposals would lead to a development that stretches fully across the width of the plot.

“The development is very near to the South Downs National Park boundary but does not take into account the character of the National Park in terms of design, scale, mass and the SDNP Dark Skies policy.”
The application will be heard by the Winchester City Council planning committee on Wednesday, August 14.
