The Language Academy in Winchester is set to launch a memoir-writing course following the triumph of its 'Write a Novel' programme.

Beginning October 8, attendees will meet at the Cabinet Rooms in Jewry Street every Tuesday morning for ten weeks.

During these meetings, people will work on their memoirs or autobiographies, sharing experiences and life stories.

Participants will have the opportunity to receive feedback and suggestions for enhancing their writing.

The academy will have a facilitator present to guide discussions and to maintain a clear, productive path.

They will be addressing key considerations that include the narrative viewpoint of the memoir and the level to which personal challenges should be discussed.

Although writing in the first person may seem the most apparent choice, the facilitator will stress it's not the only option for autobiographical works.

Participants will also grapple with the question of whether to exclude or include personal difficulties from their writing, as some subjects might be both intriguing to the reader or potentially embarrassing.

By enrolling in this course, individuals will have the opportunity to document their unique life experiences for future generations.
