A MAN who crashed into a Winchester bus stop has been charged with drink driving.
Police were called to a report of a crash in Stanmore Lane in Stanmore at around 12.45am on Thursday, May 23.
Thomas Henry Stokoe, of West Soley Lane in Chilton Foliat, near Ramsbury, north Wiltshire, was arrested.
The 22-year-old has since been charged with driving a car while over the legal alcohol limit.
A Stanmore Lane resident said he saw four police cars, a police van and nine police officers at the scene to clear up the "colossal amount" of bus stop glass.
"The noise from the vehicle impact woke up half the local neighbours", he added.
Stokoe was released on unconditional bail and will next appear at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on Thursday, June 27
