A HAMPSHIRE villager must do unpaid work after he was caught with a sword in Winchester

Paul Scard, of Scott Close, King's Somborne, had the weapon in Sarum Road on Saturday, January 13, a court heard.

Scard, 52, was also caught in possession of amphetamine, which is a class B drug. 

He pleaded guilty to both offences and was sentenced at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on May 16. 

As well as having to attend court order appointments for a maximum of 10 days, he must complete 60 hours of unpaid work within 12 months. The sword was also forfeited and the drugs destroyed.

In addition, Scard has to pay costs of £40 and a victim surcharge of £144 by June 13.
