The photographic archive of Hampshire Cultural Trust contains a wealth of photographs from the middle of the 20th century.

Hundreds of photographs taken for the Hampshire Chronicle are stored at the trust's base at Bar End. They are available to the public to look at online.

Unfortunately the some of the captions leave much to be desired. Why was the Knight family photographed with a 'wireless'? Perhaps a family member knows and can let us know.

Who was Mr Godwin and why was he the recipient of a presentation on the platform at Alresford station? was he a long-serving member of staff on the eve of retirement?

If anyone has photographs from the past and would like to be see them considered for publication in the Chronicle please email them to newsdesk@hampshirechronicle.co.uk, or by post to 5 Upper Brook Street, Winchester, SO23 8AL.
