Numerous pubs and bars across the Winchester district hold open mic nights, a chance for anyone to get up and stage and show if they have talent.

Here we list four that might be of interest for open mic regulars and those wanting to give it a try.

Organisers of the event are Alex Ede and Joe Woodhead. The evening is split into two parts as the open mic, then a ‘jam’ session which includes all participants. The next open mic is on Tuesday May 21.
  2. The Roots open mic night - The Railway Inn at St Paul's Hill - This open mic runs every Monday night held in Room 1 from 8.30pm and free entry on the door. To perform, simply turn up and all abilities are welcome. Only ages of 18-plus will be admitted.
  3. The Horse and Groom in Broad Street, Alresford - This seasoned open mic is from 7.30pm, sign up will be taken via a clipboard, two songs will be allocated per slot. Song titles and original songs will be recorded. The next open mic is Friday May 24.
  4. The March Hare - on Priors Dean Road, Harestock. This event is organised by Josh Halden and an ‘acoustic’ open mic held on the second Wednesday of every month from 8.30 pm. Players of all styles and abilities are welcome as are those who just want to come and listen.
