STAFF and pupils at a primary school in Hursley are celebrating after it received its latest Ofsted result.

John Keble Church of England Primary School, in Hursley Park Road, was rated good by inspectors following an inspection in March.

The report said that pupils told inspectors they felt happy and safe at school and enjoyed demonstrating responsibilities in roles such as junior road safety officers, house captains and learning leaders.

The report said: “Pupils understand the values of the school well. They speak confidently about love, hope, forgiveness and trust. Pupils enjoy celebrating when they, or others, demonstrate these values in their learning and wider school life.”

Inspectors identified that “across the curriculum, staff have been trained so that they know what to teach and when. Across subjects, the school has made important improvements to the structure and design of the curriculum. This helps pupils’ learning build over time.”

The school’s curriculum was also recognised for being ambitious, aiming for all pupils to be challenged to achieve as highly as possible, irrespective of their backgrounds. The inspector also recognised that “Pupils with SEND receive additional support, when needed, to access the curriculum.”

The school was praised for its realistic picture of its effectiveness since its ungraded inspection in January 2023, with inspectors saying “New leaders have established a collaborative and supportive staff culture so that the whole school is working towards the same aim. All staff are committed to continual improvement for the benefit of every pupil at the school.”

Amber Vidler, head teacher of John Keble CofE School, said: “We are delighted that the hard work and dedication of our John Keble CE Primary school family, especially over the last eighteen months, has been recognised by Ofsted.

This achievement highlights our focus on providing a supportive, fun, learning environment for everyone.

The report highlights our ambitious curriculum, the wider opportunities we provide and the love of learning our children have.

We are especially pleased that the inspection team saw content and happy children, children who are extremely proud of their school. It was great that our commitment to reading and the development for the pleasure of reading was a strength of ours as well as the opportunities our SEND children are given.”
