A legendary folk band will be coming to Winchester soon.

On May 18, Steeleye Span are set to take the stage at Theatre Royal Winchester, celebrating their golden jubilee and touring a new album.

Known for pioneering the integration of folk music with contemporary styles and larger venues, the band is one of the most influential figures in British music. They began electrifying the folk scene in 1969.

The Green Man Collection, their latest album, features new takes on beloved classics and recently released tracks.

Noteworthy renditions include Hard Times, in collaboration with Status Quo’s Francis Rossi, and Shipbuilding, an Elvis Costello cover.

The compilation also brings back a previously lost song by band member Bob Johnson.

Joining the ensemble for their UK tour is Athena Octavia, a multifaceted violinist known for her performances from classical recitals to beach club improvisations.

She even shared the BRIT Awards stage with Ed Sheeran.

The concert offers a blend of tracks spanning the band’s extensive career, along with fan favourites.

It is bound to be a memorable night for Steeleye Span enthusiasts.

The show begins at 7.30pm.
