The spring COVID-19 vaccination campaign has commenced in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, targeting the most vulnerable residents.

From April 15, care home dwellers will be prioritised. Meanwhile, the National Booking System is now accepting appointments for other qualified individuals from April 22 onwards.

Specifically, people aged 75 and above, adults, and children over six months with compromised immune systems are eligible for the spring vaccinations.

A wide range of vaccination centres, including GP practices, pharmacies, and temporary clinics, are administering the jabs.

Dr Matt Nisbet, GP and clinical lead for the NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, said: “While the COVID-19 pandemic may seem a thing of the past, and we’re grateful that for the large part we are continuing to live our lives like normal, we know the virus continues to circulate.

“Some people may wonder why they keep being offered the vaccination, and the answer to that is simple. Viruses change over time and therefore so does the vaccine to make sure you are offered the best protection.”
