THE organisers of TEDxWinchester are looking forward to a sell-out event this year.

With over half the tickets already sold, the event will be held on Friday June 14 from 10am – 4pm at Winchester University.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘illuminate’ and is supported by Dutton Gregory Solicitors as well as the university.

It is an independent, self-organised event, licenced by TED.

The line-up of speakers come from the worlds of technology, fashion, diversity, and art. They will share their ideas and stories in 18-minute presentations.

The latest additions to programme include The Winchester Ukrainian Cultural Association (WUCA).

This non-profit organisation was formed in September last year to give support and provide a voice to the 500 members of the Ukrainian community across the district.

Holly Budge, adventurer and the first woman to skydive Everest, also joins the line-up. She is an advocate for building mental toughness and is the founder of the charity How Many Elephants and World Female Ranger Week. Her work has been celebrated worldwide, including by Sir David Attenborough.

Also announced to take the stage is Mark Drury who works at the intersection of art, architecture and placemaking, creating multi award-winning building and youth projects. The wellbeing of local communities is firmly embedded in and underpins all the work that Mark does and this in turn drives the ownership and sustainability of projects.

WUCA, Holly and Mark will join the previously announced speakers, Jennie Maizels, Pascal Mathias, Tiffany St James and Emily Monsell Holden. More speaker announcements are expected soon.

TEDxWinchester curator Jan Carlyle said: “We are ecstatic with how quickly tickets have sold for our fourth TEDxWinchester event. Working with supportive sponsors like Dutton Gregory Solicitors and the University of Winchester has meant the cost of tickets has been reduced enabling more people will get to experience our world-class speakers.”

Tickets are available at tedxwinchester.com priced £39, concessions £29.
