THE incredible win against Yorkshire has lifted the spirits around the Rose Bowl, writes Jimmy Adams in this week's Hampshire Chronicle.

Alhough we may have played one or two more games than some of our rivals, if we can win at least one of the upcoming matches at the Rose Bowl and Basingstoke (both should provide a positive result for someone) we could be in a decent position come September.

It seemed we had let some strong positions slip as the Yorkies recovered from 145-7 to reach 236, then we threw away a fantastic opportunity for a first innings lead when we slipped from 157-2 to 198-9 before James Tomlinson and David Balcombe eked out some last wicket runs to leave it all square after two days.

An amazing third morning saw Yorkshire capitulate in far more spectacular style as Tomo and Imran Tahir triggered a collapse from 45 without loss to 107 all out.

Fortunately there was no further drama as Michael Brown and Michael Carberry knocked off the runs to register a crucial ten-wicket win.
