IT is another outstanding year for Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh, as students have again achieved excellent examination results.

The A Level pass rate equals last year's record 98.7 per cent with 73 per cent A-C passes (an improvement on last year's A-C pass rate).

There are 33 subjects at A Level with 100 per cent pass rates.

Students taking Diploma courses alongside their A Levels achieved a 98 per cent pass rate, with nearly a third gaining distinctions (which is equivalent to two A Grades at A Level).

Jonathan Prest, Barton Peveril's new principal, commented on his "pride and pleasure" in seeing Barton Peveril students perform so well.

He said: "To match the College's highest ever pass rate, above national averages, and to increase the number getting top grades is a magnificent achievement. Nearly half our A level grades were at A or B, giving students places at top universities around the country.

"I am absolutely delighted for our students. They have been taught very well and worked hard to achieve these results. They deserve our congratulations and have every right to celebrate their success, and let's not forget the parents and friends who have supported them for the past two years."
