I am feeling oppressed and harassed as a Winchester resident by the current actions of the parking department at Hampshire County Council.

Last night I was amongst other motorists picking up my daughter from a London train. The train was delayed and it became difficult to find a space to wait. In the 10 minute delay two parking officers emerged happily taking down details of cars waiting on limited spaces around the usually empty taxi lanes.

Surely this is preying on motorists as opposed to routine parking control? It is time to question  the motives behind these actions, and it looks and feels like monetary targets are prevailing over good considered decisions . You can’t get a permit for a passenger collection from the station, they don’t exist.

In the street where I live there are constant patrols by these parking officers often at 8am at weekends. This is frustrating harassment and makes us struggle to respect their decisions and the actions of their officers.
