CAMRA will be bringing a beer and cider festival to Winchester this year, after a gap of more than four years.

With support from festival sponsors, The Flower Pots and Steam Town Brew Co., CAMRA will be bringing its Winchester Beer and Cider Festival to its new home in Winchester Student Union, on Sparkford Road, West Hill, on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8.

After a gap of more than four years, the festival will feature up to 75 highly recommended locally and nationally brewed real ales complemented by a large selection of ciders and perry, to showcase the very best of the British brewing and cider-producing industries.

This year the festival will be welcoming Rob and Maz from Southampton’s award-winning Olaf’s Tun and The Bottle and Stoat, who will be serving their craft bar.

With an exciting range of ‘craft’ beers on tap as well as in bottles and cans, you will find a selection of popular, classic, rare, and unusual beers with something for all tastes.

The festival this year will host more seating than previous festivals, with the festival spread across two floors and accompanied by a large outside terrace and comfortable break-out rooms.

Food will be provided by the University of Winchester catering team, with the new venue a 20-minute walk from Winchester Train Station, with buses stopping at Winchester Hospital, just around the corner from the union.

The festival will consist of four open sessions. A quiet session will take place on Friday, June 7 between 11.30am and 4pm before the evening session on the same day from 6pm to 10.30pm, which will feature live music from duo Ben and Zan Dlugokecki.

With influences from David Gray, Paul Simon, Elbow and Phil Collins, Ben and Zan will be playing a selection of songs from their six albums.

The Saturday afternoon session, held between 11.30am and 4pm, will allow all to wake up the brains with the festival quiz, before the festival welcomes The Blurtones for the Saturday evening session from 6pm to 10.30pm, who will transport attendees back to the 1990's performing Britpop classics.

Ticket prices have been held at £10.00 a session and includes entry to the festival and a souvenir festival glass, sponsored by Flower Pots, and a program packed with information on the beers and drinks featured at the festival.
