I was saddened to read in the Chronicle that Winchester car parks are among the priciest in the country (April 11).

I have written before expressing my disgust of the introduction of the recent night time and Sunday charges and the detrimental effect it has on the city.

However, my mood rose when I saw that one of the main architects of their implementation, Cllr Kelsie Learney, was up for re-election in the St Barnabas ward. I am not a constituent of that ward but I would like to call on those who share my view on the car parking charges , and are against the sale of the River Park Leisure Centre complex to Southampton University amongst other things, to use their vote as a protest and change their council representative.

To show my views are not politically motivated I would also like to say that anyone who wants to see Winchester continue to grow and support its populations aspirations does not vote for Conservative candidate Flick Drummond.
