A VILLAGER has managed to dodge prison after breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

Jake Wilson, 24, of Aylwards Way, Nether Wallop, was given a two-month prison sentence suspended for two years after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

The sexual harm prevention order had been imposed last October after he was found guilty of sexual communication with a child. The three-year order prevented him from using social media without permission from a public protection officer and required him to complete unpaid work and a rehabilitation activity requirement.

However, on February 27 of this year, police found that Wilson had breached the order, with a search of his phone revealing two social media accounts and three email addresses.

The judge, Recorder John Benson KC, said he would be lenient on Wilson, as he has an intellectual disability and is believed to have not understood the full requirements of the sexual harm prevention order.

The judge also acknowledged that Wilson had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and that he had admitted the charge to the police. He also took into account that Wilson had been in custody for 43 days.

He said: “I am not wholly convinced that you understood your requirements with your order, that they were complicated.

“I will tell you this, although you have heard it before, if you conduct any further breach you will be back at court, and any court you sit in front of will not be as lenient as me.”

Recorder Benson added an extra 30 hours of unpaid work to Wilson’s sentence, for a total of 280 hours. He must also complete 40 days of rehabilitation activity.
