Housing developer Cala Homes Thames has donated £10,000 to Burridge Village Hall as part of its community pledge.

The money will be used to fund essential repairs, maintenance and facility upgrades of the community building.

Cala's community pledge covers activities including volunteering, learning programmes, bursaries and donations.

Cala has recently received the planning permission to provide 38 gas-free homes in Burridge. Some 40 per cent of these homes will be affordable and the development will also include a new footpath link to the village hall.

The new development called The Willows, will contain three, four and five-bedroom houses. Cala has recognised the importance of the hall in the community which is what prompted the donation.

Burridge village hall is run by registered charity the Burridge community association.

Chairman of the Trustees and Fareham Borough Council Leader Cllr, Seán Woodward, said: “I know that Burridge Village Hall is at the heart of the community in Burridge. It is wonderful to be able to carry out redecoration and repairs to the building so it can continue to serve local people for years to come.

“I am grateful to Cala for putting something back into the local community in this way.”

Laura Bheenick, senior planning manager at Cala Homes Thames, said: “We’re proud to present this donation to fund repairs and improvements at Burridge Village Hall helping to ensure its future use. We know the hall is central to the local community and we’re really pleased our contribution will support the improvements.”
