The family of a woman who suffered a fatal epileptic seizure are organising a memorial family picnic and party in June.

Lara Weston, who died in 2014, was the much-loved daughter of Murray and Emma, and sister to Polly. Lara was born and bred in Hursley, with both her and Polly attending Keble Memorial Primary School, next door to The Pound where they grew up.

Lara died suddenly following a massive seizure she incurred at the age of 22, just before she left for work one day in June 2014.

Her family have announced they will be hosting an event called 'LaraFest' in June this year to honour the memory of Lara.

Emma Weston said: "Lara suffered with epilepsy through most of her childhood and teenage years.  It is an unpredictable and isolating condition that took her life.

"In supporting the new work of Epilepsy Research UK, we aim to help all those affected while keeping the memory of Lara alive."

On Saturday, June 8, which would have been Lara's 32nd birthday, the family will be raising awareness and collecting money for the Epilepsy Research Institute UK by way of a family event consisting of a walk followed by an evening picnic barbecue party with live music.

LaraFest will start with a walk from The Pound led by Lara's sister Polly at 3pm, travelling across Hursley Woods to St John's, Farley Chamberlayne where Lara is buried. Light refreshments will be laid on there for walkers before they return to The Pound for drinks and the start of the evening event.

Polly plans to lead a group to run the route back to The Pound in a sponsored run exercise, although there is no obligation for those taking part in the walk to run.

The evening at The Pound will start gently from around 6pm with drinks, food and music, and is likely to conclude around 10.30pm.

Attendees will have a selection of foods and drinks to choose from, including a spit roast lamb, a meat barbecue, various vegetarian options, and a fully licenced bar stocking a mixture of soft and alcoholic drinks. Attendees are asked to bring their own glasses with them.

There will be live music from around 6.30pm, blues performer Phil Mills taking to the stage first, followed by five-piece band The Go Go Five, which will include a guest appearance by guitarist Jack Laver, who is also Lara's cousin.

All are welcome to join LaraFest especially those who knew Lara - full details of arrangements can be downloaded from https://we.tl/t-fWUhAqtYx8   Entry charge of £20 per person includes food and soft drinks and a donation to Epilepsy Research UK.  Message larafest32@gmail.com to contact the organisers direct.
