A Winchester man with cancer will be running the London Marathon this April.

David Howells, will join many others from up and down the country when he takes part in the London Marathon on Sunday, April 21.

David said he has received excellent treatment from the NHS and great support from the charity Prostate Cancer UK.

As a keen runner for more than 45 years, David said that it was music to his ears when his oncologist recommended that he carries on running to help maintain bone strength.

David will be taking part in the London Marathon this year to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

David said: "I was lucky to get a place in the ballot to run a previous London Marathon, but had to defer my entry to this year due to the timing of my cancer treatments.

"I am keen to raise awareness of the need to improve the methods of early diagnosis of this common cancer by helping to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK."
