One resident said: "It's so wonderful to celebrate Easter with everyone, and eating all the chocolate treats is a bonus."

General manager Claudia Nunes said: "As always, we’ve all been looking forward to Easter.

"It’s such a lovely time of year – the residents love all the colourful Easter eggs it’s really been an eggs-cellent few days."

Another resident, Jan, gave a candid reflection on the day's events.

She said: "Like every Easter, I think I’ve eaten too much chocolate. It was so wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort. I really enjoyed being able to see my grandchildren who visited me, and they even brought me an Easter egg!"

Flowerdown is managed by Barchester Healthcare, a leading UK care provider.

Its life enrichment programmes aim to keep residents active, offering a range of daily physical, mental and spiritual activities.
