Over the last few years, sewage has been allowed to pollute our cherished chalk-based rivers including the Itchen and Test.
Raw sewage has been seen running down Winchester High Street more than once.
The privately owned water companies have reneged on their basic responsibility; to ensure of sewage-free rivers and ultimately seas. Clean water delivered to customers.
The issue? Profit. Further, shareholders accumulating vast amounts.
Seemingly nothing had been done to increase the cleansing and filtering plants.
Front-line workers can only operate within the confines of the current system.
The Government is responsible for not being sufficiently strong towards the water companies' executives.
There is no way customers should have to pay even more, to companies that have failed, putting profit before customer service and investment in the infrastructure.
