A flood warning put in place on a Hampshire river has been removed.

As previously reported, a warning was covering Landford, Wellow Mill, and Wade Bridge, on the River Blackwater near Romsey.

It came following a flood alert issued on Thursday, March 28.

The warning, which was issued at 5.35pm on March 28, said: "The water level in the River Blackwater at Wellow and Ower is high and rising. Throughout Thursday morning (March 28), 15mm of rain has been recorded in Romsey. This has added to a river which is already high."

An additional flood alert had been issued for the Lower Test, covering the river and its tributaries from Romsey to Totton.

However, these warnings have since been removed, after significantly less rainfall than had been expected overnight from Thursday, March 28 into Friday, March 29.

The flood warning, updated at 5.52pm on Friday, March 29 said: "The water level in the River Blackwater at Wellow and Ower has peaked and is falling. The rain expected overnight and today (Friday 29/03/2024) was a lot less than forecast with only 2mm falling in the last 18 hours at Romsey.

"The forecast for the rest of the weekend is to be fairly dry. The river now has plenty of chance to recover. As water levels return to normal, any minor flood impacts should reduce significantly over the next few days. We continue to monitor the forecast."
