I am not sure any of us can make a valid judgement about our hospital A&E.

However, I am now sure what is wrong with the NHS. It is certainly not the wonderful healthcare professionals. My recent experience is first class.

Sadly it has more to do with communication and administration. At a recent appointment at a Southampton hospital I was four times sent to the wrong place. A follow up appointment was cancelled but no attempt made to enquire when I was available. The result: a two month delay.

Even the private sector has issues. Communication with my GP is very one-way: no-reply texts and no emails. Even my optician managed to confuse things.

Uniquely, we all need healthcare at some time or another yet I find communications can be very difficult. I remain grateful for the doctors and nurses I have seen, and their dedicated service.
