Two special guest engines will join the Watercress Line's Spring Steam Gala, returning from April 26-28.

The three-day spectacle offers visitors an opportunity to traverse the heritage railway's 10-mile stretch on board both home-fleet and guest locomotives.

LMS Jubilee Class ‘Leander’, rebuilt in 1936, will make her Hampshire debut, whilst 'Battle of Britain' Class 'Manston', dating back to 1947, graces the occasion courtesy of Swanage Railway and Southern Locomotives Ltd.

Plenty of action is expected from the home-fleet engines too, including the S15 Class 506. Society stands, displays, shops, and food counters will all be present at the event.

The Watercress Line’s CEO Rebecca Dalley said: "We are thrilled to welcome two special guest engines to this year’s Spring Steam Gala.

"It promises to be a bumper occasion – in addition to riding behind some wonderful locomotives along the beautiful South Downs National Park, visitors can explore railway exhibits and enjoy guided tours, which will give them a real insight into what it takes to maintain and run locomotives at The Watercress Line.

"Tickets are now on sale, so get on board for a memorable day out at The Watercress Line this Spring."
