THE annual litter pick in Alresford will be on Saturday March 23.

The event, organised by the town council, runs from 9am to 11am at Alresford Recreation Centre.

Equipment and gloves will be provided. The event is in memory of the recently passed Bill Rushton.

A SHORT early-evening concert by the Thomas Weelkes Singers, will be performed in St Nicholas church, Bishop's Sutton, on Saturday March 2.

Ticket price £10 to include a welcoming drink. Proceeds will be shared between Blood Cancer UK and St Nicholas. Doors open at 5.30pm and the concert starts at 6pm. Tickets are available on the door and can be reserved via stnbconcerts@gmail.com.

St Nicholas is currently in the process of trying to raise £200,000 for roof repairs and future fundraising events include a plant and cake sale at Westerclose, School Lane, on March 23-24 and a quiz in the village hall on Friday April.12. Further details from stnicholasfundraising@gmail.com.

AN Alresford road will be closed from Monday March 4 for SSEN to undertake cable works.

Sun Lane will be shut between East Street and the junction with Nursery Road for a predicted three days. The closure will be 24 hours a day.

SSEN says it will try to allow access to adjacent properties.

THE next Neighbourhood Plan meeting in Alresford has been postponed.

The gathering at Arlebury Park to discuss how the town may evolve in the next few years had been due on Monday February 12 but has been put back to Wednesday March 13 at 6pm.

ALRESFORD will be in the pink this Tuesday March 5 when the community cinema screens Barbie.

ROPLEY Horticultural Society has issued its programme for 2024.

It generally meets at 7.45pm on the last Monday of the month, at Ropley Parish Hall, Vicarage Lane, SO24 0DU with an invited speaker. Free parking. It holds spring and summer shows and organises outings. THE next talk to Alresford Historical and Literary Society will be an infamous murder on the high seas.

The Porthole Murder talk will be given by retired senior Hampshire police detective Paul Stickler on Wednesday March 20.

Actress Gay Gibson went missing from MV Durban Castle between Cape Town and Southampton in October 1947. The criminal case that followed was known as the Porthole Murder.

The society holds its monthly meetings at the Methodist Church on Jacklyns Lane, SO24 9JJ. Visitors are welcome at the door for just £3.
