"IT'S an accident waiting to happen." Those are the words of a Winchester man who fears for the safety of pedestrians outside Winchester Bus Station.
Terry Young, 76, is concerned about the entrance to the bus station, off The Broadway, and is calling for signs to warn people of oncoming buses.
Mr Young is a well-known face in the city as he sells poppies for the Royal British Legion in High Street each year.
He said: “For the last ten years I have been getting on to the council and the bus station to sort out the crossing because someone is going to get run over.

“A couple of months ago, they moved the crossing to a safer place, where it should be, but people still cross without looking.”
Mr Young, of High Street, added that signs should be put at either end of the bus station entrance.
“Now the summer's coming, someone is going to get run over. It's just so dangerous. People just walk straight across without looking at the buses. It's an accident waiting to happen,” he said.
“It would be good if we could have a sign up for people walking down the High Street to look to the right and people walking up the High Street to look to the left. It's definitely a dangerous area.”
Winchester City Council and Stagecoach have been contacted for a comment.
