AFTERNOON tea was enjoyed against the backdrop of live music by more than 100 senior citizens as a popular party returned to Winchester.
The event, the Senior Citizens Party, saw people attend from various groups, clubs, societies and care homes from across the district.
It had been organised by Winchester's Rotary Club and the Inner Wheel and took place at Itchen Abbas and Avington Village Hall on Saturday, March 9.
As well as music sung by French singer Muriele and delicious homemade afternoon tea prepared by the Inner Wheel, there was a raffle with donated prizes, bingo and a quiz.
Mayor of Winchester Angela Clear stopped by with Mayoress Therese Evans.
Cllr Clear said: "I have seen so many people who remember me from last year. It is a lovely event and the food is delicious."
Diana Groves, 77, who lives at Tegfield House care home, was at the event with the care home's activities coordinator Gemma Forbes.
She said: "It is lovely, I am having a great time."
Gemma added: "She has been looking forward to this event for weeks."
Sam Knight, from Kings Worthy, was at the event with his wife Jean. They received the invite through meetings they attend for retired people at St Mary's Church called Tuesdays Place.
He said: "It is a lovely crowd here and it is really nice. It has been a brilliant job by the Rotary and the Inner Wheel."
Sonja Jueterbock, who works at Shawford Springs Care Home in Compton, was there with a group of residents.
She said: "It has been really well organised. It is the perfect opportunity for the community to get together. It is nice because the residents get to see people that they haven't seen in a long time."
As well as volunteers from Winchester Rotary Club and the Inner Wheel, Charlie Lane and Adil Saad from Rotaract, the Rotary Club's group for young professionals, were pitching in and serving tea.
Games, fun, music, good food and lots of laughter were shared by all.
Winchester Rotary Club's president Les Haswell rounded the day off with thanks to all who helped and attended.
He said: "Thanks to everyone for coming. I hope you all enjoyed your afternoon and that you will be back next year."
