Spring is in the air and for those of us lucky enough to have a garden spending time outside is recognised as being highly beneficial for our mental and physical wellbeing.

Unfortunately the warmer weather means the return of the ice cream van that parks in College Walk, diesel engine idling, pumping out dangerous noxious fumes for hours on end.

This particular ice cream van parks less than 75 metres from our property. The polluting fumes drift across which has a serious negative impact on us, particularly for my wife who suffers from asthma.

The local Liberal Democrats claim to champion cleaner air for the city, but after bringing this situation to their attention it appears there is little commitment on their part to tackle the polluting emissions from this van. The fact that he’s parked on a single yellow line isn’t the deterrent it should be. Parking enforcement around College Walk is scarce at the best of times.
