This is a letter of appreciation to a kind woman and one awesome family.

On Sunday March 3, such a beautifully sunny afternoon, I ran with my dog out to Morestead and back to the city and my car, parked in the Park and Ride; opened the boot, invited my dog into it, took out my cleaner shoes and closed the boot.

Only then did I realise that the ‘clever’ car had locked itself entirely with the dog and key inside. I had nothing on me at all and a somewhat upset and quite hot dog.

May I express here my thanks to the woman who agreed to drive to my home and ask someone there to fetch another key. This was certainly going the extra mile.

Since I am writing this letter, I also want to mention a lovely family I saw enjoying a walk together, armed with litter pickers and filling a black bag as they went.

Thank you for two great examples of kindness and community spirit.
