Thanks to the Hampshire Chronicle for publishing all those fascinating images from the Hampshire Cultural Trust's archive (Bygone Hampshire, February 29).
There is one that particularly caught my eye!
The main feature of the picture captioned "Repairs to a culvert under Union Street/Eastgate Street" is actually a stunning rear-end view of a very rare (and shy!) Hants & Dorset bus!
It is one of only two special lightweight Morris-Commercial buses with bodies by the Kent firm of Beadle put into service in 1950.
I am not sure that I have ever set eyes on a picture of one of these buses from the front, but to have such a clear view of the rear - showing the destination "Salisbury" - is just a wonder! Thank you.
