MORE than 30 GP practices will close for an afternoon of staff training.

All the GP practices in north and mid Hampshire will be closed on Wednesday, February 28 afternoon for mandatory training led by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB).

This includes practices in the Winchester, Basingstoke and Andover districts. All the practices should be open as usual the following day (Thursday, February 29).

Anyone who requires same-day urgent medical advice during the closure should contact the out-of-hours service via NHS 111. Patients should still dial 999 for life-threatening medical emergencies. All other non-urgent/routine medical queries should be made online.

A Hampshire ICB spokeswoman said the training is called TARGET, which stands for Time for Audit Research Governance Education and Training, and is training that has been undertaken for several years.
