A COMMUNITY combatting homelessness has launched a knit and crochet group to help people meet others and learn a new skill.

Emmaus Hampshire’s Knit and Crochet Group meets on Thursdays at 11am at The Green Roof Café in Bar End. Anyone can join and no booking is required.

Sarah Smith, who runs the group, said: “Whether you’re a complete beginner, an improver or if you’ve been knitting or crocheting for years, I hope the group will offer people the chance to learn from each other, try something new and enjoy the social side. I love the buzz of teaching people and absolutely believe that anyone can do it.

“Some people might come along to the group with a particular project in mind such as a scarf, a hat, or a bag whereas others might just want to explore new techniques or try something different like knitting a mushroom or a guinea pig! Knitting and crocheting can be so varied and versatile, and I’m hoping that it’s also an opportunity to meet new people and have some fun.”

For anyone who would like to speak to Sarah before attending a session, email Avril Robinson at avril.robinson@emmaushampshire.org.uk and she will forward your message to Sarah.

The session on Thursday, February 29 will be at Sarah's home but will then return to the cafe at Emmaus the following week.
